A story has surfaced in the last couple of days about Microsoft being convicted of something it actively pursues, software piracy. Microsoft itself was convicted of software piracy on September 27, 2001 by a French court. The Commercial Court of Nanterre fined Microsoft 3 million francs (EUR 457,347 or US$ 408,141) because it illegally included another company's proprietary source code in SoftImage 3D, a top-of-the-line animation package. You can read the whole story here <newsforge.com

Newsbytes <www.newsbytes.com is reporting that an apparent Xbox emulator that is being promoted around the web as a free download is actually a Trojan horse designed to covertly rack up money for its authors using pay-for-click and other schemes.
The install program is called 'EMU_xbox.exe' and it installs a program called 'NetBUIE.exe' that contacts many servers in order to fake paying click rate sites and it has contacted the Fastcounter site nearly 4 million times, each time it does this, the money gets racked up. So if you see this program advertised, ignore it. Get the full story at the link above.

Fujitsu has developed new read head and media technologies that will enable hard disk drive recording densities of up to 300 gigabits per square inch. The new technologies are expected to lead to the commercial introduction within two to four years of 2.5' hard disk drives with capacities up to six times the recording density available today. Read below for more details:
'Fujitsu is proud to once again offer a technology breakthrough that will lead to better and faster products for tomorrow's consumers,' said Mike Chenery, vice president, advanced product engineering at Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc.
Fujitsu's latest technology advancements feature a new Current-Perpendicular-to-Plane (CPP) mode Giant Magneto-Resistive (GMR) head that achieves more than three times the playback output levels of current HDDs by allowing current to flow perpendicular to the GMR element. Existing GMR read heads, which operate in the Current-in-Plane mode, are considered to have a limit of approximately 100Gb/in2 in density due to their small signal output level. Fujitsu's new CPP GMR head also boasts improved sensitivity to data signals. Higher sensitivity when element size becomes smaller results in increased recording density.
Catch the full details over at Fujitsu <www.fcpa.fujitsu.com

48225 2002-05-11 06:05:00 Swoon, I just can't get enough of that JK2, nice links too. Only I didn't see a reference to the offical JK2 update from Lucasarts site, I think it updates the game to 1.03 or something (I'm at work so can't check it).

It fixes a few multiplayer and weapon/force power bugs and opens up another six levels to play duel mode.

But then with all your updates tweaks, I prolly missed you mentioning that one a week before anyone else knew =P~
