48468 2002-05-12 07:34:00 I've had an AMD1700+ pc with Windows XP for 3 months now and have had several problems. Using Netscape 6.2, I've totally lost folders containing mail and have had to reconfigure the mail settings three times now. Also, when trying to open some apps, i get a message that says the application has encountered a problem and needs to close (this applies at the moment to Yahoo Messenger, and it used to work perfectly). And finally, i have files in the system dated 2079.
I hate to say it, but I've had more computer woes in 3 months with a pc than i had in 13 years with a mac. Any help would be appreciated.

48469 2002-05-12 07:56:00 Hi Anna T

I know it's not what U want to hear but after all those lovely dollars U paid, I think U should take it back from where it came, telling them to sort it out.

If it is not fit for the purpose U bought it for and it does not seem like it is, then U are entitled to get yer money back. However, tell them to fix it first but let them know if it ain't any better your gonna want da cash back.

Good luck

My rule is never run an application until you have verified it is compatible with XP. Re mail suggest you backup your mail, bookmarks and address book then download a copy of the latest Netscape 6.2, uninstal the old 6.2 and reinstal the new 6.2. When I went from Communicator 4.76 to Netscape 6.2 I manually checked each address and bookmark as many were no longer available. Re date suggest you get hold of the book 'Windows XP for Dummies', page 299 deals with the computers internal clock jumping into the future. 2 click Taskbar Clock Icon and go from there.Frank.

48471 2002-05-14 03:26:00 hi anna

have you had your machine checked for viruses? do you regularly update your virus checker? at the moment it pays to update every week ..... if your machine wont run your antivirus software then you definitely have one on board and they do all sorts of stupid things to your system ...... you'll need to take it in to have the virus removed ...

hope that helps
