48420 2002-05-12 03:31:00 recently my 7200e started to have a problem with the power cable. As a result I converted it into a 7200i, at the same time I upgraded to XP. Xp reads the drive well however it does not write, XP hardware install wiz shows the device as a DVD/CD-ROM when it installs. I have looked on hp for a 7200i XP driver but without luck. Can someone suggest as solution? Guest (0)
48421 2002-05-12 03:58:00 goto www.hp.com through support and downloads and get a firmware upgrade.

also u can download some hp writing softwares. although to my knowledge the internal model does not need these softwares. worth a try??

48422 2002-05-13 04:23:00 From what I know, the 7200 series has been discontinued for a while now, and HP no longer support it.

I can only suggest that you go to www.windrivers.com and either have a look there or post the same question there.

48423 2002-05-13 10:54:00 yes it has been discontinued. but hp still support it.

go onto the web and there are info about installation on win9x, winME, Win2k, winXP.

I know b/c I have one - its working right now on win2k and I trial winXP Pro 8 weeks ago on this same machine and worked without a hitch. WinXP need the writing softwares from HP. Internal on winXP can use winXP s.w

win2k can use 3rd party or hp's. note that i had to upgrade my adaptec s.w to run on win2k since the original s.w does not work in win2k. I am now using 4.02e. WinXP would need Adaptec 5 basic or platinum. U will also need to goto the website and get 2 updates .... b4 it will work.
