48387 2002-05-12 02:37:00 Hi,

Recently, when performing a restart after installing new software or scanner drivers, my BIOS hangs just before it performs the POST of the HD's. Any idea what would cause this. Next time I restart I will note my BIOS version etc, etc - I know it is an award system.

A press of the reset switch does the trick.

It's got me stumped.

had the same problem!!
I think what you describe suggests that the hard drive is not quite ready--when you turn your computer on the hd powers up and does mysterious things--if the bios is too quick for it then bios will hang.Is there some way to slow the bios? Why does your new software cause this? Sorry--more questions than answers

48389 2002-05-12 12:13:00 I don't know why it does it, but I will try to fix it by disabling the 'enable quick POST' option so thaqt the BIOS checks RAM and CPU first instead of skipping them and thus hopefully giving the HD's time to 'catch up'.

Will advise on results.
