48593 2002-05-13 03:41:00 'Windows - Virtual Memory Minimum too low.

Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your memory paging file. During this process memory requests for some applications may be denied. For more information see Help.'

I only get this message when I go to restart or shut down my PC. I know how to increase the virtual memory, but I don't think this is going to work - I increased it already from 300something MB to 768mb and it still happens; I have 256mb RAM.

Any suggestions?

Mike.

48594 2002-05-13 04:25:00 you can add more memory XP needs a minimum of 256 ram or uninstall as many programs and delete as many files you can to to free up HDD space. you need a minimum of around 10% free for windows to operate properly ,www.toejumper.net

48595 2002-05-13 05:30:00 Gordon,

According to my box, Win XP needs a minimum of 64mb RAM, not 256mb.

I've got 768mb of virtual memory (had it set to 384 until I started getting this message - Windows suggested a maximum needed of 768, or a recommended of 382). And I've got at least 5gb free disk space.

48596 2002-05-13 05:39:00 Im running 3 machines with XP, 2 have 192MB one has 128MB (shared).

True there is a slight difference with 192 being better but not that much.

Had resource error and adjustment take place once soon after installing XP on 128 MB machine but never since. VM is 288 MB on 192 Ram machines, 192 on 128 machines.

XP is so stable, much higher productivity.

48597 2002-05-13 05:56:00 Mike, you can carry CDs in your PC-World holder --- portable virtual memory.

In the setup panel for the swap file, doesn't it have settings for 'Maximum' and 'Minimum'? It's complaining about the Minimum setting.

48598 2002-05-13 06:04:00 It tells me the minimum is too low. My minimum is set at 768mb now.
