48809 2002-05-14 09:45:00 Hi new poster!!!
I am looking for a good program Pref. free or well-priced to record LP'S to later cut into CD'S. I have music via my 'line-in'. I have tried the 'LP Recorder' from the latest PC World mag but remember a past issue where this issue was delt with and suggestions were made.

Post Note: will have to remove a electrical hum comming through the 'line in'

any suggestions

The hum you are getting is most likely due to an earth loop. It's good practice in both Audio and RF to only have one earthing point, ie earth each device to one point, eg your computer earth, even if this means disconnecting the earth wire from a 3 pin mains plug of say your turntable.

48811 2002-05-14 11:47:00 I use Sound Forge for a lot of my audio editing. I has DC correction as well which is usefull as I find the line in on computers can have a varying positive voltage.

It also supports DirectX plugins and integrates with a few other programs.

If you're looking for real cheap, try GoldWave. It full of features but light on price.

Try Audiograbber at the above address. It's free and it's good, and it records from LP's and cassettes as well as lots of others uses. K.A.T.

for recording line in,try musicmatch which is free sort of, it burns cds at slower speeds until you pay a fee, and mediajukebox which has a 30 trial.

cheers,
