| 48791 | 2002-05-14 07:02:00 | 56k dial up. in IE pages often hang. when connections icon clicked it shows periods of inactivity of 10, 20, 30 seconds or longer, sometimes losing the connection. doesn't appear to effect outlook. is this likely to be my computer, software, modem, line (copper from outside provincial town) or ISP? Any suggestions to fix or at least prove which it is? | Guest (0) | ||
| 48792 | 2002-05-14 10:02:00 | Hi Johnny What ISP are you using. I ask because i have been having similar problems on Paradise. Ping your local host to determine if its something at your end. Start> Programs > MS DOS prompt. In the box type: C:\WINDOWS>ping 107.0.0.1 If all the packets return ok then try your ISP eg: C:\WINDOWS>ping www.paradise.net.nz or: C:\WINDOWS>ping 203.96.152.127 (which is the numeric address for pardise). If you lose packets or time out pinging your ISP or another site then the problem is any where from your lines to your ISP or the site your trying to access. Also have a look at support.microsoft.com and related articles. HTH Murray P |
