2002-05-13 22:08:00 Hi all. I am in the process of setting up a number of computers for restricted web browsing. We use a proxy server, so I can block access to all external sites by not specifying it in internet explorer. Problem is, there are some external sites I need to give access to, so I need the proxy server. I have played around with using Internet Explorers Content Advisor, but this only allows me to specify sites I want to allow access to, not ip ranges. Anyone know of any way or software that will allow me to do this?

Thanks

2002-05-13 22:16:00 MS Proxy Server will do it - set up filtering in security Guest (0)
2002-05-13 22:20:00 Sorry... should have mentioned - Internet Explorer 5.5 running on Windows 95c (hey - these are only pentium 166s!). So my other problem is, alot of this software won't run on Win95! Thanks for the suggestion though. Guest (0)
2002-05-13 22:34:00 Buy a separate machine (a dedicated server), set it as an NT or 2k server, dump the peer to peer network, create a domain, increase security, run terminal services, reduce the network workload . . . and headaches trying to get the existing setup to do what it can't . 48738 2002-05-14 08:58:00 Try using the 'Host' file which should be in the Windows directory. If you want more info go to 'accs-net.com Guest (0)
