| 49045 | 2002-05-15 12:33:00 | Since 1997 I have had a NT Server running my network without a shutdown I did not instigate. Earlier this year I started getting the problem of the server freezing, and the only reference in the log was the shutdown was unexpected. I thought maybe the machine was getting a bit tired so promoted my BDC to PDC 3 weeks ago. Lo and behold today I had a shutdown on the new server, the same report in the logs. Anybody got any ideas? regards Don |

MS seem to reinvent the buffer overflow security problem repeatedly (like in every OS they release), so they probably reinvent memory leak in at least one component of any service pack. Cynical comment warning: I remember reading that Mr Gates Sir said it didn't matter that NT locks up and needs rebooting because they had speeded up the booting for NT4. |
