Gas Powered Games and ExtremeTech have developed a new Dungeon Siege Benchmark program that you can download <ftp://ftp.extremetech.com/pub/extremetech/3dGraphics/DSBenchmark.EXE> to test your computer and video card. The only drawback is that you will need the game to use it. Here's more from the announcement:
Microsoft today announced that ExtremeTech, the technology enthusiast's web site launched last year by Ziff Davis Media, will use the critically acclaimed action fantasy game Dungeon Siege as a key part of their benchmark suite to test the performance of the computer systems, processors, and graphics cards they review.
Dungeon Siege's unique architecture allows testing of a broad range of resources on nearly any PC system available today. The benchmark is a non-interactive demo in which the character runs through various aspects of the world. Dungeon Siege's 'continuous world' technology incorporates resources from CPU, memory, and graphics during gameplay, making it a superb all-around system test for benchmarking standards.
'When Chris Taylor described Dungeon Siege's unique architecture to me, I knew it would make an excellent stress test for PC systems and graphics card,' noted ExtremeTech's Loyd Case. 'We worked with the Dungeon Siege team, supplying them with the main spec. They did a great job of turning that spec into a great benchmark. We'll be using it as a key component of our 3D GameGauge 3.0 benchmark.'

Overclockers Australia <http://www.overclockers.com.au> has posted a comparo of three of the fastest ATA hard disks available for the time being from IBM, WD and Maxtor. The comparision tests each of the drives in a Single Disk and RAID0 setup. Here's a bit from the comparo:

Today we have a look at the latest and hopefully greatest ATA hard disk drives from IBM and Western Digital and compare them with the Maxtor D740X. In our recent ATA 133 review the D740X came out very strong, besting our ATA 100 reference disk in all categories. In autumn 2001, when Maxtor launched the D740X series, it was safe to say that it was together with IBM's 60GXP the fastest ATA disk around. The question is: Can the D740X hold on or do the newcomers dethrone it?
