| 49187 | 2002-05-16 10:13:00 | Hi, I recently formatted and reinstalled Win98. After installing the drivers, I have found my modem makes a screechy noise when dialing(normal) but then continues all the time while connected. I have tried adding M0 and ATM0 to the extra settings and also sliding the volumn bar to zero but it doesn't help. Its a Conxant Soft56 Data Fax Speakerphone modem. The driver I used is Generic Soft56 Data Fax. I tried to change to a different driver but it keeps asking for the Generic one. Any ideas? Ray |

To install a soft modem, the enumerator has to be installed first. Then the modem can be 'found' on the virtual com port, and the modem driver installed. Try removing the enumerator as well as the modem driver, when you go to install a new 'driver'. |

We had to use the Fujitsu LB RWmodem V90 56k E driver. If its not on your list of drivers on the hardware update wizard or yor 98 disk, you will have to do a google. Problem solved. Cheers. |
