1299844 2012-09-09 06:49:00 Is there an application that can easily determine what files are changing and what are the major files on a SSD outside the OS?
Just that have a W7 PC with a 250 GB SSD and have trouble with it filling up!
Major files are on 2 x 2 TB HDDs.
Thanks.

1299845 2012-09-09 06:54:00 Disable system restore. Thats probably filling up 1/4 of it. And use something like ccleaner to remove the temp files etc Speedy Gonzales (78)
1299846 2012-09-09 22:29:00 Disabling system restore is not a good idea IMHO. It can be very useful when "funnies" occur. Your problem is one of analysis, like you say. It seems as if you are storing stuff on C: that could be on the other drives. For example, I make sure music, images and videos are on other drives.

250GB should be heaps for a C: drive if you have other drives as well. My C: drive takes around 60GB (even with system restore on!).

Install something like "Folder Size", a free prog. This will tell you where the space is going and you can take it from there. The "Windows" folder will take a lot of space. Mine is 21GB. The next will be "Users". Mine is 16GB. My next one is "Program Files" at 11GB. The rest is pretty much peanuts.

Interested to know what you find.

1299847 2012-09-09 22:38:00 I don't have any suggestions for a Windows app, but if you've got Linux handy, the following command will give you a sorted list of the top 20 space hogs in the current directory:
du -sh * | sort -hr | head -n 20
Run from the root of a drive, it's a great way to find what's eating all the space on your system.

1299851 2012-09-10 01:04:00 Jam software has treesize, where you can take a snapshot to compare with another say a week later to see where the increase is happening.. SolMiester (139)

You must have the wrong version as I have it running here under Win 7.
