Sure, maori tend to be the majority but it's not the fact that they sit around collecting benefits which in turn stuffs the economy. It's the other way round. You can't blame certain groups of people for the ills of a country. As for the comment on incomes, OK, I don't know what people here earn. I would put her income on a par with johcars. No I don't know his either, but I know what he does and have a pretty good idea of the pay rates for that type of work. Not too many I would say that are over that, some perhaps but not the majority here. |

It is thought that his running for council may have been for self interest in his business concerns in Invercargill. A lot of younger people in Invercargill thought that he was wonderful maybe because his businesses are frequented by younger people. Older, more mature people do not appear to be so disposed toward him. He has made large charitable donations down here in Invercargill. Mr Crimp has made an appearance on 'Fair Go'. This was from memory due to water flooding into a home that his firm had built in Winton. My mother who owned a flat in Invercargill was made an offer by Mr Crimp for her to purchase another dwelling. Our family thought that it was a bit dodgy and so dissuaded her from going through with the deal. A year or two ago I was seated on board a flight at Christchurch bound for Invercargill. The plane was full apart from an empty seat next to me. An announcement came over the plane's speakers asking if a Mr Louis Crimp was aboard. Apparently he had checked his luggage in and after this had become too sick to make the flight. I missed out on having a delightful travelling companion. |
