| 1300411 | 2012-09-16 06:08:00 | I'm in linux at the moment Then you should stop faffing about with windows usb tools and just dd the iso onto the stick. Plug the usb in. Type 'dmesg' to MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DEVICE NAME. Then 'dd if=/path/to/iso of=/dev/sdb' Boot from it. |

| 1300413 | 2012-09-16 22:01:00 | Well, I tried putting a different distro on my usb - linux mint cinnamon. It booted into a screen that asked what I wanted to do, when I selected start linux mint, I just got a blank screen. Whereas openSUSE just got me straight back to the bios. On an unrelated note - Chill, is there any way to format a dvd once imgburn has put something on it? I've tried, has never worked. |

A blank screen is normal for a bit as it auto-detects hardware and loads drivers. |

| 1300417 | 2012-09-16 23:12:00 | Cool, let us know the result! :) | KarameaDave (15222) | ||
| 1300418 | 2012-09-16 23:33:00 | Cool, let us know the result! :) Definitely doesn't boot. Tried cinnamon again, got to the option screen, selected the run cinnamon option, and waited. And waited. And waited. End result - it stays on the black screen. Another interesting thing to note - the activity led on the flash stick blinks from when it turn my computer on to when just after select the start cinnamon option and get the blank screen, when it stops showing any activity. | Nick G (16709) | ||
| 1300419 | 2012-09-16 23:36:00 | is there any way to format a dvd once imgburn has put something on it? I've tried, has never worked. You can always format and reuse DVD-RW or DVD+RW just like a CD-RW. If you have DVD-R or DVD+R you cannot format and re-use them. |

I've tried formatting them, but it hasn't worked. I've always got an 'this operation could not be completed' message. | Nick G (16709) | ||
