1300497 2012-09-11 05:48:00 Hi all,
I Have an HP Pavilion P6 2055a specs and dimensions: h10010.www1.hp.com
Anyway I want to upgrade its GPU to Nvidia GTX 670, add 4GB more RAM and obviously it's PSU
My question is: Will it all fit into the case? Do I need to change that too and if so how? PB Tech is where I'm going to get the upgrade.
Please help!
Thanks

1300498 2012-09-11 05:55:00 Research the dimensions of the card and then see if they fit in the case.

Or you could just ask PB Tech.

First thing I would do is get more RAM as you suggest, but I'd replace the motherboard for say an ASRock with non K OC, and turn that 3.4 ghz CPU into a 4.2ghz 4 core.....then you can get a GPU which can use the PCIe v3 slot.....

1300501 2012-09-11 07:04:00 I'm assuming HP sells computers with OEM licenses, don't those get locked to the motherboard? icow (15313)
1300502 2012-09-11 07:06:00 See it's still got a 300w power supply

Have a a6660a with a 300w but not into gaming, think the power supplies are normal dimensions so easy to upgrade

Or hard drive...you can easily say you mobo failed, but you still have the same unit...

1300504 2012-09-11 09:55:00 www.pp.co.nz is 27.2 cm, allow 28cm to be safe then take the side off and measure as icow suggested. If you want a different card check the specs for that one as not all are the same length.

I actually disagree with Sol regarding changing the motherboard or overclocking, the i7 at stock speeds is not even close to bottlenecking games at this stage and you would be unlikely to notice the difference 99% of the time. I'm guilty of it myself though, my i5 is overclocked just because I can not because I need the power :). If you want to for the fun of it go ahead, but the graphics card/RAM and PSU is a much more worthwhile upgrade and adding an SSD would do more for you than changing the motherboard and overclocking would IMHO. Unless of course you do something that pushes your CPU to 100% on a regular basis.

1300505 2012-09-11 10:24:00 Thanks for all your replies! Im not going to be doing any changes apart from the ones that I said but thanks for the suggestions! Ill probably just go and check with PB Tech myself like chazthegeek suggested, I'm not an intense gamer I reckon that my GPU of choice is even overpowered for my needs but I thought ill just go with the better option just in case. Thanks for the help! Nikit07 (16761)
1300506 2012-09-12 04:57:00 I would be an intense gamer IF I had a lot funds...*sigh*
Well being overpowered is not a bad thing, good for future proofing.
What gonna happen to your old GT 520?
