| 1276387 | 2012-05-20 02:20:00 | Can someone give me some feedback on these please. I have a car charger that goes straight to a mini USB to my Navman but the metal tip came off. Someone here just mentioned that what about a car charger with a USB port so we can use other devices on it... ie., GPS, cellphone etc .. and like my Nokia which uses a diff USB port than the Navman. Cheers. |

Go for a reliable brand such as belkin and you should be just fine though. That's the best advice you'll get all week. Cheap electronic devices are not worth the money that wasn't spent on them. They sometimes may last, but rarely, and if they don't they usually go out in a blaze of glory or a haze of smoke and take your attached equipment with them. I've been in electronics for over 45 years and I know damned well that there's cheap electronics and there's good electronics, but cheap good electronics are rarer and harder to find than an honest politician or an innocent prisoner. They can be found, but not both in one lifetime. Compare a cut-rate chinese knock-off with the real thing and the difference inside is frightening, but from the outside it can be hard to pick, unless you accidentally sneeze on it, at which point it may give the game away by melting or falling apart. Don't ruin several hundred dollars worth of smartphone or such by trying to save money on a charger. |
