49287 2002-05-17 07:03:00 On our network, backup takes place to a Zip100. Occasionally I forget to install the days Zip100 disk and Id like a warning on at say 8:30am (first backup at 9am) that there is NO DISK in the Backup drive, any idea how to accomplish this?

Im looking for Batch file to do that above, but open to other suggestions.

Cheers.....John.

49288 2002-05-19 02:25:00 Do a 'dir' on the drive. If there is no disk there you will get the 'Abort, Retry, Fail' message, and it will sit there. If you want something which will not hang, my approach would be a Pascal programme which does the same and sets the ERROR returned by the programme, or mails something or whatever.

I am pretty sure that DOS does not have anything more 'sophisticated', though you could try something like
'dir h: <abort.txt', where abort.txt contains just 'a<CR>'), then an 'IF ERROR=1 then type errormsg.txt' . Experiment.
