49779 2002-05-20 08:53:00 Has anyone removed the Fast Find Program if yes does it make a vast difference to your system am running W98 SE. Either through DOS or from Office CD.

I've scrapped mine, I'm pretty brutal with my software, anything not serving a VERY useful purpose goes.

No adverse effects whatsoever.

At startup my computer runs Explorer & Systray only.

I just yanked it out of msconfig.

49781 2002-05-20 10:04:00 The find fast program is constantly accessing the hard drive so that it knows the locations of all files (stangely enough so that you can find them quickly if you need to). This puts a constant strain on lower end PC's resulting in much slower performance time. Most books certainly recommend disabling find-fast, which can also be done through the control panel. Open it up and you'll see the drives listed that it's accessing. You can delete these so that it won't!. Guest (0)
