49944 2002-05-21 08:42:00 Is it possible to remove the little LAN icon that always sits in the tray? Guest (0)
49945 2002-05-21 10:19:00 To manage the system tray in Windows XP, simply right click the Taskbar, and choose Properties. In the Properties window that appears, on the Taskbar tab, check the box next to 'Hide Inactive Icons' if it isn't already checked, and then click the 'Customize...' button. That will bring up a window that allows you to choose one of three behaviors for each program icon that appears in the system tray: 'Hide when inactive,' 'Always hide,' or 'always show.' Guest (0)

49947 2002-05-21 12:53:00 If you actually do mean the Local Area Network icon, then goto to START | CONNECT TO | SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS
Right mouse click the local area network connection, Left mouse click the PROPERTIES and in the window that shows up Unselect (UNTICK) the SHOW ICON IN NOTIFICATION AREA WHEN CONNECTED option and OK

The same option(s) are also available for all the other network connections including your dialup connection(s).
