| 49910 | 2002-05-21 06:40:00 | I have Office 2000 operating in Win 98. Whenever I try to open a Word document the process does not complete. I see a message in the bottom right of the screen 'requesting virus scan' and the only way out is Ctrl/Alt/Del and I then get the message 'system dangerously low on resources.' All my other applications open fine. What's happening and how do I fix it? | Guest (0) | ||

If not, you know the problem is in Word and not the anti-virus programme. Do you have the Office 2000 repair feature? That usually fixes the odd problems I have, although it does reset all the settings to standard. Good luck |

Norton Antivirus has a Office plug-in which scans each office document for viruses before it opens them and will display requesting virus scan... in the status bar when opening a document. You can disable it using the following procedure: 1) Open Norton Antivirus. 2)Click on the options button. 3)Click on Miscellaneous. 4)Untick the box that says enable office plug-in. Done. G P |
