| 50433 | 2002-05-23 23:37:00 | Hi,all. I have a PC card modem purchased in Asia some years ago: Rockwell 56K flex, with V.34 and V.80 written on the back of it. P/N is FM56R-NF. I'm told the chipset is not Rockwell, but don't know what it is. And here's the problem: the modem doesn't like me. Or the computer doesn't like it. Or the server doesn't like it. Something. Data is very slow (1kbps is normal), erratic, and I am dumped from the server about 90% of the time. This makes downloads a bit of a trial...to put it mildly! I thought this was just the way things were, until I got a second-hand PC that connected like a dream (phone-lines permitting). Now I know there's a real problem, and it's driving me nuts. I've had the ISP guy in twice, but he can't find a driver that will fix the problem. He says he thinks the card and the computer aren't talking (whatever that means). Any suggestions? Thanks much. Janz ;-> |

Make sure you go via the home page and select english, unless your Mandarin is up to scratch though! Cheers TW |

| 50437 | 2002-05-24 01:13:00 | Hi again. Really appreciate your help, but there's a slight hiccup: I don't know how to access FTP sites. I tried doing what IE's help pages told me to (yeah, like they'd work!), but only got an error msg, together with the line 'username: anonymous' on the screen from billionton.com. Can u pls tell me how to get to that file? Pasting in the link you gave me didn't work. And going thru the homepage to support, I can find heaps of FM56 drivers, but not the one you mentioned. Cheers, Janz . |
