| 50545 | 2002-05-24 09:36:00 | Suddenly, I cannot download emails from my ISPs (xtra and Paradise). I'm using Outlook Express 6. I usually log onto Paradise and download all mail. Over the last two days, xtra mail won't download, and today neither will Paradise mail. I know there is mail there in both mailboxes as I can access it from the on-line mail sites. OE6 gives the following messages: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Server: 'localhost', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.paradise.net.nz', Server: 'localhost', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E This is the same if I try when logged on to Xtra or Paradise. Can anyone shine any light on this please. Cheers. Ray.A |

Make sure your antivirus software is up to date - and your MS Windows updates - and retry. Some antivirus software has a box to tick which will keep your email software active for longer, avoiding time outs. Make sure it is ticked. Failing that you may have to reinstall your antivirus software (followed by updates to it). MH |

| 50551 | 2002-05-26 04:15:00 | I went thru this whole thing a few weeks back, too. I got in touch with their tech support (in the Philippines) and they suggested re-updating. Tried that, and it worked fine. Next update, no email. Next update, worked again. Next update, no email. Next update... And so it went. I've got a list of suggestions from the techie service if you want them in case it happens again...let me know if you want a copy. <jreid@hnpl.net> Other suggestion (which I might just follow myself, one of these days)...change to AVG! Cheers, Janz |
