| 50819 | 2002-05-26 06:48:00 | I'm wanting to sync. my desktop to my wifes new notebook. In particular my outlook, some files and also a database stored on my desktop but copied to the notebook via a hot sync system. The two computers are connected on a network at work but basically I want my suff on it when we take the notebook out of the office. Hope this makes sense. | 50820 | 2002-05-27 05:53:00 | I have two boxes connected as a network, one on XP Pro, the other on Win98SE. The former is my main PC; the latter is largely a back up storage device, but it is available to use should the main PC go down and need doctoring. I use SmartSync Pro to synchronise my documents folder and an archive folder each evening. SSPro works flawlessly (unless of course a document is opened, which stymies it for that doc). You set up profiles which record what you want to synchronise, and your schedule. You can have multiple profiles, and you can manually trigger a profile whenever you like (which you sound as though you may want to do, as well as a regularly scheduled sync). Hope that is what you are after. I suppose I originally found the software on Tucows or Version Tracker, but the home page is: www.smsync.com John |
