50799 2002-05-26 02:03:00 Hi, this is the second time I have composed this( a blue window and error poped up)all dta will be lost!
I have recently upgrade to a 2/han 8 gb h/d with 'no bad areas'
On starting( sometimes) a notice comes up 'cannot read the last cluster on C drive'press any key to continue'.
Also after being rejected by the defrag etc I get 'The cluster is either damaged or you system has beennot configered properlyDrice C may have to have Legal Blocking Addressing(LBA) enabledetc check your BIOS set up ability'.
Can somebody tell me in N.Z. english of 4 letter words whether I have in fact a faulty h/d and what to do to correct the above
Since I have had to thorough scan before my weekly defrag can complete, as a window comes up

50800 2002-05-26 04:32:00 'Probably' you are OK. Go into the BIOS setup, and write down the disk settings it has. Then get it to 'autodetect' the disks, and see if it changes anything. If it has set the 'LBA' option, find the setting which lets it detect the disks at each boot, and disable that. If it has not set 'LBA', do it yourself. Save the settings and exit.

If that fixes it, let us know. If not, post the disk settings you have.

50801 2002-05-26 23:05:00 Hi, Thank you Graham for the only help available. Also I was in such a panic - I never edited my 2 finger typing before sending.
A friend and I are at this moment rechecking all that was original- after altering 'quick power on & and boot from LAN - changed to disabled ( both)and 'report from No FDD for win 95 to yes-then reversed in case we had done wrong!
Do we reset the above permanently ( we have have clicked on the default each time)
short of a 13 line list of enabled etc can you tell me anything else- or else I will e mail you direct if there is insufficient room on F1

www.pcguide.com .

also,

www.myfavoritepc.com

and,

www.webopedia.com

might be worth reading.
