| 50718 | 2002-05-25 11:37:00 | I've had this problem before but for the life of me cannot recall how I fixed it. Win Media Player will open and apparently run Midi files, so will other midi-using software, but no sound happens. Other soud formats (wav/mp3 etc) play fine. I seem to recall needing something like Essolo before. The registry settings are set for the defaults listed in the MS Knowledge Base. I'm running Win98. |

| 50719 | 2002-05-25 12:35:00 | Warrick, I have a feeling you may need to set your midi playback up in sound properties or multimedia properties from Control Panel. This may be fairly involved, or may just be as simple as setting 'playback device' from whatever its set to, to 'general midi' or something similar. Sorry I can't give any more advice on this, but my 98se box is packed away somewhere, and I'm only running XP Pro at the moment, which has completely different settings here. HTH Mike. |
