| 50967 | 2002-05-27 01:29:00 | Hi, sorry to mislead you but there isn't any rats in my computer. Just a mouse problem i've been having, ever since my cute optical mouse died i replaced it with a crappy scroll mouse. Now that seems to have died as well after a weeks time, i replaced that and realised theres nothing wrong with the scroll mouse and now i suspect a broken ps/2 mouse port. I was wondering if there was a method of converting a serial port to a ps/2 for a mouse? i know you can do so with a keyboard...and was wondering if anyone actually repairs these things? Or if there are alternative solutions to fix this problem... Any ideas would be much apprectiated, thx. |

You might have a (fixable) problem if you are using an internal modem which is 'being' COM3 or COM4. COM3 clashes with COM1, COM4 with COM2. I would tend towards giving the mouse COM1 and the modem COM4. Just make sure that you have not got modem as COM3 and mouse as COM1. It won't work. (It might seem to work at first, but it will stop working). Adaptor prices vary ... from reasonaable to exorbitant. It's worth shopping around. |
