1301600 2012-09-17 10:02:00 I'm getting an error:

"An error occurred sending mail: SMTP server error. The server responded: Invalid HELO/EHLO of [192.168.1.105] Contact your mail administrator for assistance."

when trying to send mail. Would anyone have any ideas what's wrong?

1301601 2012-09-17 10:11:00 According to the Orcon site, this is what you should have for the pop / smtp servers

mail.orcon.net.nz as your Incoming Mail Server
mail.orcon.net.nz as your Outgoing Mail Server

It looks like its trying to send from your ip address

1301602 2012-09-19 09:33:00 That's what I have as the mail servers, first thing I checked. :(
Also, that isn't my IP address. I have no idea what IP that is that it's giving, but mine is 203.100.220.226 (just checked on speedtest.net)

1301603 2012-09-19 09:58:00 It'd be your local network ip address. If youre on a network. Not the ip address Orcon has given you. I wouldnt post that ip address online, if I were you. Are you sending emails from a computer thats connected to Orcon? Or from a computer that uses a different ISP? It looks like you can get that error, if youre trying to send emails (ie: If youre with someone like Telecom, but youre using orcon's pop/smtp servers in an email program) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1301604 2012-09-19 09:58:00 Thunderbird uses the bracketted local ip as the hostname in the HELO string.
This should be no problem if you have authenticated or are connecting from an orcon connection.
Basically, it looks like it's not you, it's them.
Give them a call.
