| 1276596 | 2012-05-24 03:45:00 | The asset sales are the biggest swindle of this generation of political con-men. Selling assets that make money, in order to reduce debt is nonsense, And, as my late mother used to say..... 'that's all there is about it'. |

| 1276597 | 2012-05-24 03:47:00 | There's an interesting comparison of the assets sold by Labour versus the assets sold by National here: www.whaleoil.co.nz This is why any Labour vs National debate is pointless. They both suck. They both haven't got a clue what to do. Short term "get money", long term not much use and will just result in more of NZ being owned by overseas. Does nothing to improve the economy and fix the lack of jobs. Global trade....pfftt.....it's all a stuff up. |

The sales are pretty balanced between the two administrations. There's a majority shareholder that probably has a lot to do with Contact's share price shareinvestornz.blogspot.co.nz And thanks Paul for that, very interesting. I was wondering if Origin were manipulating the company and that blog confirms it. Bugger. :D |

The sales are pretty balanced between the two administrations. Keep in mind that one was 150% longer time than the other to sell off the same amount, but does being the 'lesser of two evils' as such make you a good person / party? ;-) Fact of the matter is until anybody can find some hard evidence of just how much those assets are making vs what is owed on "owning" them, it's all just a load of hot air anyway! How much of an asset is a business if you have to borrow $100,000 to buy it, yet it only makes you $3,000 a year, which is less than the interest paid on the amount borrowed to own the asset? I still want the number s... |

"Whether 'tis is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of full employment, low crime, import restrictions and social conscience, or by taking arms against a sea of the poor, and selling all that they hath, end them" |

I still want the number s . . . That was my point, people tend to argue the point sans the facts, typically the likes of Terry and 80% of this forum, all with a tendency to the left, then there is the likes of you and the 20% who are in favour of free enterprise . Oh and the never the twain shall meet . |

I would be all for free enterprise as you put it but all the evidence seems to show it is not working (Why is the USA debt so high) and those countries where the Govt's are more involved in the every day business affairs are doing so much better. |
