Redistributed the very skimpy existing batts and added 2 bales of used batts from a building recycler's. I now have 3 layers over the front half of my house and 2 over the rear half. Cost: 2 bales of 600mm wide batts (my ceiling joists are 600mm apart) $200 Labour (a mate's son) $100 Next on the list...underfloor. And finally, the biggy, the walls. Can't decide on the best, easiest, cheapest method. |

Where were all these so called freezing poor people? Oh wait, it takes some effort. But really its a tiny tiny amount of effort, a mornings work. Which I suppose is slightly more effort then just letting the taxpayers cover it. The layer in my ceiling is 2 or 3 deep, The walls and ceiling of my wifes studio are done, and we packed my home theater with noise suppressing batts. Cost-Almost nothing. result-cozy. |
