I would run Windows Movie Maker and plug the camera into the computer via the USB cable and see if WMM will see the output. It may not need a driver at all.

It can't do any harm trying the simple route as it will only take a few minutes.

If that doesn't work, other physical connections will be needed. I have also used an A/V to USB device to record from a VCR but try the above suggestion first.

1301328 2012-09-17 22:46:00 Mmmm, looks like the USBDRVEN is needed Found (www.designstudioschool.com) where a guy has uploaded a Win 7 (32 bit only) driver to Driver guide.

Also, have you tried installing the driver in compatibility mode (choose XP)?

1301332 2012-09-18 22:14:00 The camera has DV out you say? That should be firewire IEEE 1394, 4 conductor (small square hole that looks squashed in on the top or bottom)?
Then all you would need is a $3 usb to firewire adapter cable off trade me.

1301333 2012-09-19 10:34:00 It is as you say, a small square connector that loooks squashed on the bottom. So exactly what cables do I need to get to my computer ?:stare: IT illiterate old guy (16891)
1301334 2012-09-19 11:07:00 Something like this (www.dicksmith.co.nz), but I think there is also a 4 pin cable. So, you may have to find out how many pins are in this dv connection. If its got firewire on it

If it looks like this its firewire / 1394 (simplydv.com). Take the cam into whatever shop to see which cable, you should get

1301335 2012-09-19 11:41:00 It is 4 pin on DV cameras
www.trademe.co.nz
as an example.
Sorry it says not for SONY?

Might work.
Or as Speedy suggests try taking the camera to a Dick Smith or someone to check if it will work.
What sort of computer are we talking about as some have a firewire connector built in or can have one fitted.
