2012-09-17 07:57:00 | Thanks to everyone for their help, probably going to order this one tomorrow: www.pcforce.co.nz Sticking with Gigabyte as per advice, because my current Gigabyte board has been great. Four USB3.0 ports is sufficient I feel because I've still yet to see it go mainstream enough to warrant more. Anyone know a good ENB mod for Skyrim? Gigabyte make nice boards, although if you were running the ASRock mATX z77, non k OC would have that CPU running at 4GHZ all cores with the touch of one button.... www.youtube.com

2012-09-17 08:04:00 | That's no fun. Tbh overclocking Intel cpu's is no fun :p | icow (15313) | |
2012-09-17 08:14:00 | 25% OC is free speed and nothing to be laughed at..LOL | SolMiester (139) | |
2012-09-17 08:17:00 | I fail to see how a button that just ups to multiplier is a good feature, any monkey can do that themselves. | icow (15313) | |
2012-09-17 08:37:00 | They are just boosting the turbo speed. Unfortunately that feature only works on models with turbo boost | jonovw (16835) | |
2012-09-17 21:20:00 | They are just boosting the turbo speed. Unfortunately that feature only works on models with turbo boost It works with any non K i5 and i7 SB or IB.... ICOW....dont know what your story is, but in actual fact, a monkey cant overclock non K CPU's, unless they have a board with this feature.....I dont OC to brag, but to get free speed on the proc!

2012-09-29 04:38:00 | Hey everyone, just checking back to thank you all for your help on my newly-upgraded PC. Used the Corsair 400R case, a Gigabyte Z77X-D3H motherboard, Intel Core i5-3470 @ 3.2Ghz CPU and 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP RAM @ 1600MHz. After a hiccup involving having to connect the PSU, HDD and graphics card back up to the old system and search for the Windows Product Key, got it all together and working smoothly this morning with a clean install of Windows. Feels like butter, man. Loving TF2 on my 1080p screen, looking forward to maxing other games when I buy the new GPU next week. Once again, thanks everyone for the help, this forum is honestly the most useful resource I know for any PC problems or questions, and you're all awesome. Even when you start debating turbo-boost on motherboards, which I don't see myself using for a while: going from 2.5Ghz dual core to 3.2Ghz quad core i5 is a big jump and it is FAST.

2012-09-29 06:21:00 | lol i noticed ENB for skyrim. Ex nem body mod? Just get one of the nude ones. People funnily enough seem to put the most effort into those. I wonder why -_- Your turbo boost will be pushing the computer a bit harder by default, it's when you overclock that you disable it and push it further. My i5 for example has been known to go well over 3ghz in some boards without needing anything more than the stock cooler.
