1277415 2012-05-26 02:49:00 I would like to see yearly a WOF rather than the six monthly warrant that they have at the moment. Vehicle owners would still be responsible for ensuring that their vehicle is kept up to WOF standard at all times. If for example their brakes are failing then it is their responsibility to get them fixed. Mechanics most likely make more money out of doing repairs than they do testing cars. Bobh (5192)

Well of course...

Depends on the weight as well! I forget the prices but our Coaster weighs in two tonnes differant to our larger bus and costs a fair bit more than $112, The pricing structure for COFs is complex compared to your basic WOF.

Should point of whatprefect said depends on tie downs! Our local VTNZ testing station can not do that so we either have to go to a testing station that can that adds to the cost and since VTNZ are the ones doing the COFs your selection and choice limited. Hence it means for us booking in a month in advance in some areas.

1277421 2012-05-27 01:53:00 NZ is the only place in the world that tests cars every 6 months. The only people who like this are the the garages and inspecting agencies so we should ignore these clowns. Its a total rip off.
Like its not as if you have a valid 6 month warrant everything is sweet. The feld polizei on the road will still do you for any faults they find even if the tester passed them. This is an insane situation, so you might as well be totally responsible for safety related stuff on your cars if the polizei check you and find stuff wrong.

Exactly, and those garages can always find some faults that needs to be fixed. I once took my car to garage A to get WOF, it failed and require some parts to be fixed, I took the car to garage B and they have different opinions ...
