51185 2002-05-28 00:48:00 Hi,
Got some new RAM to help sepped up XP.

Orignally had 128Mb on slot one.

Mobo = Chaintech CT-7AIA w/ VIA 686B chipset,
CPU = AMD Athon T-bird 1.2GHz.

Installed new 256Mb stick in slot two. Rebooted, and PC only recognised 128MB stick.

Installed 128Mb to slot two, and 256 to slot One.

Now PC only recognises 256Mb stick.

Any help greatly appreciated.

51186 2002-05-28 01:08:00 Are the RAM modules the same speed? ie PC-133 or PC-100
I have had problems in the past with RAM modules of different speeds.

Does the PC work if you put one RAM module in slot 2?
If not then probably faulty slot and don't think there is a lot you can do about that.
Is mainboard still under warranty?
