51100 2002-05-27 11:26:00 I have Windows 98SE, often Win98 accesses the floppy disk drive for no apparent reason. I have tried everything I know including the following:

*deleting generic floppy disk from device manager in My Comp.

*unchecking check for new floppy disk drives each time it starts in My Comp.

*removing all *PIF files that point to the A drive.

*renaming DRVWPPQT.VXD & DRVWQ117.VXD to .OLD in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS.

*checking HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID in the registry for .OCX & .DLL floppy references.

*clearing Documents & Start/Run menus.

*unchecking scan floppy drives on start up & shutdown in Norton AntiVirus.

Do you have any other suggestions??

51101 2002-05-28 07:18:00 Hi Jason

Gets up you nose doesn't it!

Unfortunately I can't remember how I fixed it on my comp. Thought it was the seach for new floppy, have you tried disableing write behind caching in File System properties, Removable Disk or something checked that shouldn't be in device manager?

How about FindFast, its constantly scanning your drives? Checked in your bios?

Bugger! this is like one of those songs that you can't quite remember the name or who sung it.

If it comes back I'll post here, ok.

Cheers

Got anywhere with your floppy seek prob?

What anti virus are you running? checked its settings?

Also have a scan for spyware (adaware)

51103 2002-06-03 07:44:00 Still no luck Murray - I'm running NAV 2000 - checked all floppy settings in NAV & BIOS & consistently remove any Spyware - I've tried everything I know & have searched on - from other websites, but nothing yet ?? Guest (0)
