| 51175 | 2002-05-28 00:00:00 | I get ink smearing when using black ink printing with the HP Deskjet 695c. I have cleaned the printer several times as advised by HP but still get the smearing problems. Any other recommendations? Thanks | Guest (0) | ||

Usually touching the paper too soon after printing is the problem. Otherwise a quick blow out with compressed air may remove soemthing touching the paper on the way out of the printer (long shot but worth a try). Is the smudging in the same place all the time or are we talking the 'feathering' you get on letters? Could try changing inks if you are using re-inked cartridges but would try that as last resort. robo. |

Remove the cartridges, make sure the bottom of them is reasonably clean, no hairs etc. With the cartridges out, you can manually raise the level of the holder slightly by lifting it up as high as poss without forcing it. There are about 3 runners on the bottom - one each side and I *think* one in the middle. Scrape off any built up crap on there and give them a good clean with a bit of detergent. Then have a look inside the printer to the right (behind where the lights are) and there is a black plastic device that cleans the cartridges. Use a cotton bud or cloth and clean off any crap built up around the top edge of this device. Stick the carts back in and give it a whirl. | Guest (0) | ||
