| 51405 | 2002-05-29 06:16:00 | After a lot of grief with previous win.systems finally went the XP way.Must say it`s pretty good so far.Problem is: I`ve set myself up as the system administrator to stop the kids dicking with the system. After installing a game(Sims)it can only be played if they use my log on.Sort of defeats the purpose.I`ve made sure it`s avavilable to all users.Any programmes I`ve installed work fine on the 'all users' menu. All ideas gratefully recieved. Cheers John |

| 51406 | 2002-05-30 00:02:00 | Hi John : I suspect that like lots of apps & later versions of windows, the app needs to be installed via the user id that's going to run it. Try having a separate uid for <kids, whoever> and grant the uid admin priveleges to install software, then remove admin rights. The app may well be OK now. This has worked for me with several apps under NT & win2000 (although still testing with XP.) To do with user profiles & all that. | Guest (0) | ||
