51411 2002-05-29 06:09:00 My wife is American and would like to keep track of her investments in the States (stocks and 401(K)funds) and I'm shopping around for a very basic accounting package for my (very) small business that allows for on-line banking from my ASB account. Is there something out there that can handle the currency differences for both our personal Yankee financial portfolio and our inflow/outflow daily Kiwi accounts? Guest (0)

This is a long shot but perhaps MS Money is what you're looking for.

Being originally designed in the US obviously it can handle alot of their financial instruments and it does some internet banking as well.

I used MS Money personally with ASB BAnk and it worked fine for a personal account and stuff.

As for using it for a business...hmm, I'm not sure about that. Perhaps it might be worthwhile buying two separate programmes. MS Money for personal and MYOB or Quicken for business.

I use MYOB for business (but haven't really explored the internet banking aspect of it. I know many accountants can handle MYOB files for end of year auditing and filing of returns.

Cost wise, depending on what version of MYOB it's pretty reaonsably priced (a bit cheaper than Quicken I think). From that perspective, perhaps it's worthwhile buying MYOB and MS Money - the cost might work out the same as a larger package.

Check with ASB Bank, though...I'm not sure if it's still on but I know last year sometime (or was it the year before) they had a special where you could buy MS Money 2000 (Standard) from them for $20...perhaps something similar is coming up.

HTH
