| 51390 | 2002-05-29 04:57:00 | In xp home in the windows of programs the file, edit, view etc buttons have a white background behind the text, when they are clicked the whole button goes white. why is this? it looks very ugly, it happened on a new computer. The only things that it dosent seem to occur on are IE and windows explorer. any ideas what is going on. |

I like to call it the 'Mac'esque' appearance in that the buttons change colour slightly and well it looks a little like the Mac interface changes. Anyway...moving away from Macs (quickly) it's might be that you can correct the problem by switching to the 'Classical' Windows view or by changing your screen appearance. To do this, right click anywhere on your desktop (not over an icon) and select properties. Then choose the 'Appearance' tab and there should be three drop down boxes where it says 'Windows and buttons'. Change the top one to say 'Windows Classical Style'. I don't know if this will help, but it's probably a good start...you might need to scroll through and choose some other appearance settings, colour etc. HTH Callum |
