The movies show off the capabilities of the engine that will be powering No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way. The hole allows hackers to control the PC running the program by programming XML stylesheets to execute evil code. If a user opens a spreadsheet from Excel (with the extension .xls) that contains an XML stylesheet, he is exposing his system to hacker's attacks. Excel users should avoid XML stylesheets. As yet Microsoft has not released a statement about the problem. read the full story at News.Zdnet.co.uk <news.zdnet.co.uk For all those brave to be trying the DirectX 9 beta download and are finding some apps won't run (3D Mark 2001 for one as it checks that DX8.1 or lower is installed), here's a tip that was published in the XP-Erience.Org Forums <www.xp-erience.org - Alter this key in Registry to change the Version ID of the DirectX. - Go to Start --> Run and type regedit then Navigate to : - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/DirectX/ - Alter the 'Version' to read '4.08.01.0810' - Now all Apps and games that wouldn't run will. For those that are regular users of CLoneCD version 4.0, you will know that it comes default settings for making backups of your games, however these settings are not entirely accurate for some copy protections. CDfreaks have provided a list of Optimized CloneCD profiles. These profiles are for the most common copy-protections used nowadays and all you need to do is right-click SAVE TARGET AS.... on the icon next each protection type and save it to your CloneCD/Profiles folder.
