| 51618 | 2002-05-30 13:03:00 | Some ways of getting rid of messenger If you just want to stop it from starting up when you log in: 1. remove the shortcut from the STARTUP submenu If you are happy enough using the Registry Editor (usual cavets apply backup BEFORE making changes etc etc etc...) 2. run the registry editor REGEDIT and remove the instances from: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run] and from: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run] and if you wish: 3. Rename the executable which is: %systemdrive%\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe to something else: %systemdrive%\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs_dont_want_to_run_this.exe Someone else may have some extra comments on MSM and other places it may pop up from. Cheers, Babe. |
