51628 2002-05-30 10:49:00 I'm using an Athlon XP1700 with 512mb DDR RAM, Ti200, and 80gig Seagate Barracuda.
The company I purchased the computer from set it up with a partition - C:\ with 30 gig in FAT32 and D:\ with 50gig in NTFS.
Can I convert the 30 gig C:\ to NTFS (I'm using Windows XP Home)?
Not sure why it would have been setup with both Fat32 and NTFS. I don't have Partition Magic, and don't really want to re-format and start again. Any other options?
Thanks,
Mike

51629 2002-05-30 12:03:00 You can use the convert command to convert fat or fat32 partitions to NTFS without losing the data - of course, it should be backed up first just in case.

Goto Start>run and type cmd then press enter.

now type 'help convert' sans quotes and press enter to view how the command works. For more info, read the help file.

Goto Start>Help and Support

and enter a search keyword like fat32 ntfs.

Also, check out the microsoft knowledge base. If you are online, the articles appear under Microsoft knowledge Base in the help search results window, otherwise got www.microsoft.com click support at the top right, and goto knowledge base. then search for article no. Q307881 as a good place to start.

If you are still stuck, reply to this post for more help.
