51887 2002-06-01 06:15:00 I have recently reinstalled Win 98 on my Compaq Prosignia 150 notebook. The install went well - the system is now free of the debris built up over the past few years.

However, I am unable to get my CNET Singlepoint netowrk adaptor card installed. It appears to install in the way it should - ie insert the card, Windows detects it, load the software, done. On restarting the machine I get an error message stating the network card is not properly installed. Install it again.

I have reinstalled. I have reloaded Windows. I have loaded updated drivers from the web. to no avail. The card was working fine before I reinstalled Windows. The card is getting power - as evidenced by one light on the dongle...

Any idea what to do from here?

51888 2002-06-01 06:56:00 Did you get the drivers from www.cnet.com.tw and is your card a CNF401C?
The light on the dongle usually represent network connectivity for 10/100MBS (2 lights if you have a NCF401C)
If you go winipcfg - is any address assigned to the card? It may be in the drop down box when the first window appears.
Can it ping to 127.0.0.1?
In control panel system - are there two network adaptors or is there one with a red cross or is there something in ubknown or other devices eg PCMICIA ethernet controller?

51889 2002-06-02 02:41:00 Thanks for the response.

Yes, I got the drivers from the website you mentioned. My card is a CNF401-DF according to the info on the card itself.

After going through your comments in detail, I decided to try reinstalling the drivers.

Lo and behold the card now works. Must be in the way I was holding my tongue.

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

Cheers
