| 51970 | 2002-06-01 14:14:00 | I'm running WinXP with IE6. For some reason, whenever i open Internet Explorer, there is a URL in my address bar. It is not in my history folder - and clearing cookies, temporary internet files, and my history does no good. I have never even been to the url before, so I am guessing it came with something I installed recently. I had a look in regedit, but found no mention of it at all. How the hell do I make it go away, will reinstalling internet explorer do any good? | Guest (0) | ||

| 51972 | 2002-06-01 21:33:00 | When I open my IE the URL of my home page appears in the address bar. Check in the Tools/Internet Options/General and see if the URL is set as your home page. | Guest (0) | ||
| 51973 | 2002-06-03 09:54:00 | Hmm. Is it the infamous lop.com? If so then read on.. Download adaware (freeware) from www.lavasoft.nu and remove it for good. Lop.com installs as a IEHelper, a notorious feature built into IE4 and above allowing third party plugins to modify IE behaviour. It would go in as a dll, so you would not find any reference in registry, history or anywhere else. Reinstalling IE will not help as it will not remove the IEHelper DLL |
