| 52112 | 2002-06-02 11:44:00 | HELP!!! I have just installed Win XP pro after a format, and want to install 98se, which i also have on cd, as a second OS, so i will have a boot menu. But when i try to install 98se BEFORE XP pro, it comes up with an error 'not a system disk' or something. this is without any windows installed. When i try to install 98se AFTER installing XP, this is when i go through the XP DOS floppy, typing 'E:\setup.exe' or 'F:\setup.exe' (E:\ is my CDROM drive), it comes up with an error saying invalid drive specification or something. so can anyone tell me how i can install 98se on the same PC without uninstalling XP? any help would be very much appreciated |

If you are willing to try again - you need to have a boot disk that will run fdisk so that you can fdisk the hard drive and delete the partition. You then need to use fdisk to make a new partition and mark it active so that W98 will find it. After W98 is loaded - you can load XP from setup.exe when W98 is running. |

| 52115 | 2002-06-03 04:26:00 | I already have a partitioned hard drive, but while the system is running in dos mode it comes up with an invalid drive specification yet when i put any other cd in it loads fine. I have a 3 GB folder i want to keep so i dont want to fdisk. So now i know how to create a dual boot, now i just need to solve the problem: 'Invalid drive specification' (when trying to install 98se). Thanks |
