| 52167 | 2002-06-02 23:48:00 | I have 2 computers with a peer to peer network operating with Windows 98. One has a 20 mb HD and the other has a 4.5 Mb HD. I would like to create a partition on the larger HD for Data and give it a different drive letter so both computers can access the data using the same drive letter reference. Is there software included in win 98 to create the partition without having to reinstall everything?and/ or is there software freely available elsewhere to do it? And is there some good easy to follow reference material somewhere on the procedure to do it. I know how to map the drives etc after the partition has been created. |

The best win98 offers is 'Fdisk' from dos, which will trash any existing files. Even with Partition Magic, it makes sense to back up your important data in case something goes wrong. Partition Magic can create / delete partitions, resize them, change cluster sizes etc, while shifting existing data around to accomodate your wishes! |

There is a free download version of Partition Magic which has been described on this forum as useless but the pay version is said to be good, and PM help files have good info. | Guest (0) | ||
