| 52415 | 2002-06-04 08:52:00 | It is not format /mbr the correct command is fdisk /mbr It will NOT delete any data or partition info. It will only put the standard MS boot record. Useful in case you want to get rid of Linux Boot Loader (LILO) |

Some expensive services can recover data. Sometimes. But /MBR will often make a disk bootable again after a variety of disasters which can happen to/with MS software. (Installing Linux *should not* be a disaster). |
