1302897 2012-09-23 09:07:00 Hi everyone, how do I record from television (a plasma and Analog I think) to my lap top, and how does this work?
My friend said this would do the trick...

is it all I need? What should I look for in trademe? The simpler the better ;)
Just for use on the internet. Thankyou!

1302898 2012-09-23 09:10:00 Provided your PC is fast enough, yeah that'll work :) Chilling_Silence (9)
1302899 2012-09-23 10:20:00 That unit does not record from your TV; it records from off the air and provided you can get good reception, is actually better.
(Provided your PC is fast enough as Chill has pointed out)

1302900 2012-09-23 10:33:00 Actaully regardless of machine size it will record it...as long as the hard dick can keep up with 6gb an hour.

But the trouble that the previous two users allude to are in playback. 1080i is fairly hard on machines - but if your laptop if < 2 years old it's probably able to run it.

1302901 2012-09-24 07:37:00 Thanks everyone! My laptop is a Compaq (but under the system details it says Hewlett Packard??)
Presario CQ61 Notebook PC
AMD Sempron(tm) M120 2.10 GHz Processor
2 GB RAM
32 bit operating system.
Will this be sufficient?
(I'm assuming the hard dick is the same as the hard disk ;)

Compaq is owned by HP, this will be why.

1302903 2012-09-24 09:02:00 The graphics card/chip is the important piece of information needed. psycik (12851)
1302904 2012-09-24 09:57:00 Ahh that makes sense :) The memory card is an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. DAC type Internal DAC 400MHz. Total spprox memory 962 MB. Display mode 1366X768 32 bit 60hz ATI display adapter 0x9712
Thx!

1302905 2012-09-24 11:21:00 Hmm that should be able to do it...basically the graphics card needs to be able to hardware decode the video. Which that should be able to do. psycik (12851)
1302906 2012-09-24 23:23:00 Actaully regardless of machine size it will record it...as long as the hard **** can keep up with 6gb an hour.

Hee hee.
That was quite the Freudian slip... or have you got your forums muddled up?
