| 1278033 | 2012-05-30 00:48:00 | every job I apply for I say I am able to start immediately yet in the 20 jobs I have applied for so far I have got 1 interview. I think it is absolutely rude of the employers who never reply to unsuccessful job applicants when they advertise a job. How many were like that? Good luck with your job hunting. |

| 1278034 | 2012-05-30 01:29:00 | Im amazed that so many think the pension isnt welfare. Bit of a Greek attitude, thats working well so for them. You havnt paid enough taxes to cover when you were working, thats why NZ owes so much money !!!! Its welfare = govt handout. in 20 years , every fifth person will be paying tax just to cover predicted pensions . How can that possibly be sustainable . why should someone sitting on a freehold house worth 400K++ be able to claim a handout/pension. There will be no pension, as we know it, for the upcoming generations. Stop being so selfish & get real It'd be nice to have a $400k house, but I don't. I'm not even on the pension yet. Selfish? Moi? I don't think so. Yes, I do realize that NZ Super may not be sustainable in its present form in the future, and that somethings will have to change. Isn't that why the govt wants to get people in work so they can save for their own retirement? NZ is in the dark and smelly because of bad decision making, not because older people cannot work in the same positions that they used to be in, and who really does want to employ old people. One day you will be old too, I wonder if you will feel the same? LL |

Good luck with your job hunting. IME, the more smaller companies and maybe private sector are like that. I usually get a reply back from recruitment agencies , or large companies (private or public) at least some form of auto generated email. I have found that when I was trying to get into IT, they IME didn't reply or very late like 3 months after incl the IT agencies and the big IT firms. IMO anyway with the pension, I would be pretty happy if people kept their own house, but asset tested on other properties or financial funds they may have. IMO the threshold (of assets) should be set higher than long-termers on the benefit. Long term I mean maybe 5 or 10 full years on it collectively. But if they off the benefit and then it and tallied up 5yrs the counter could be resetted. If they are long term should one own a house or more or have a nice car or more. They could like set limits on it ... like max $12k car which is more than enough to get kids to school to attend jobn interviews etc .. I know there may be public transportations but pple's situations may be different (requiring). In a way, if everyone qualify for the pension, it builds up an expectation. I can spend more now b/c I expect the govt to help me. But what hapens if down the road the govt makes some substantial changes. It's not like one could save for a retirement in a few years .. |

| 1278036 | 2012-05-30 01:44:00 | Roger Douglas is partly to blame for our present position in regards to pensions as he was the one that took off the tax incentive to have an assurance policy and wasn't he the one that started taxing savings interest at source. | mikebartnz (21) | ||
| 1278037 | 2012-05-30 01:47:00 | Stop all ex-politition expenditure and payments to start with. This is the one thing that really annoys me, all the perks they still get yet most go onto be directors of companies and earn big bucks but wooe betide anyone suggesting they loose those perks |

| 1278038 | 2012-05-30 02:18:00 | In terms of that no reply thing. The few that I have spoke to who work in small firms incl the owners. Those are pple I know personally. Their view was if they aren't gonna get the job or the interview why reply to them ..... And those who sent txt or email for rental of a property. Again they might not even reply a text. Bc they think that if they get no text back that is an answer in itself. | Nomad (952) | ||

I think employers should have the courtesy to ring, to say that they didn't get the job but thanks for applying . Good luck with the search . Hope you get something soon though . |

| 1278040 | 2012-05-30 06:05:00 | I am about to loose my Acc and at the moment I can't get a job. who want's to employ a 45 year old partial invalid you guessed it no one I am stuck in limbo through no fault of my own but if Imend up on tge dole I will be labelled a bludger. Thanks For sure. You have my sympathy. Yes the uninitiated will label you a bludger because in their eyes - dole=bludger. However, I recommend you go through the demeaning process of applying and the hell with pride, just don't announce it. You need to have at least something to help while you continue to look. While you are there you could try the TV request - no just kidding, they'd throw you out.... As for the ACC problem, downplay the issue and emphasis the skills that you have that don't require jobs that you can't do it. I know, hard to do but you can.... How about an IT job? Web Drive are still advertising - they want more people later too. |
