1277993 2012-05-28 10:28:00 How is that a "luxury"? That's needed for little kids, unless you want s.hitty kids, literally. Ever heard of cloth Nappies and a washing machine, buy them once and clean when dirty. wainuitech (129)
1277994 2012-05-28 10:33:00 No 1. $20 per hour sounds great to someone who does not live in Auckland or any of the other major centres.
Yes I would believe them (depends on status, single, married, children, solo, etc.

No 2. Yes, I would believe them. Depending on the above circumstances of course.

It is not quantifiable, because it depends on so many different things, outgoings, health costs, travel costs, etc

LL

This is where the catch 22 situations come into it.

Hourly rates mean squat even anywhere in NZ unless you can get sufficant hours to counter the costs eg travel to work and above that thresehold that the goverment says you can survive on.

I kow a lot of people who are working cash in hand where they can just to make ends meet and if they lived in Auckland they would sunk! One the reasons I dont live in Auckland is the cost to live often outstrips the earning potential.

Being a young fella you probably aren't aware that there is such a thing as cotton naps which just need a wash rather than filling up the landfill.

We used cloth nappies! Saved a fortune on those disposable nappies.

What the heck is wrong with using cloth nappies and washing them? That is all we used and we saved probably thousands of dollars by doing so . They are better for the kids as well; we had no problems with nappy rash etc, maybe because we checked regularly and changed them when wet or dirty, instead of leaving the poor kid stewing in a waterproofed puddle of piss & poo .

Disposables are an absolute luxury, their net cost is far more than the purchasing and washing of cloth nappies, plus the latter don't end up in landfill .

Cheers

It has nothing to do with that as you were the one that said
How is that a "luxury"? That's needed for little kids, unless you want s.hitty kids, literally. so it is nothing to do with being up to date with anything just plain old ignorance.

1278002 2012-05-28 20:53:00 The bludgers get all they want . When it comes to genuine cases of people in need, they can't get anything from WINZ . Heard a fews years ago a mate of mine was in a difficult spot and went to get a food grant and couldn't get one . Yet they overheard somebody also in the WINZ office was getting a 42 inch TV because their family was coming to stay . The system is ****ed up .

What a load of **** .

I know several people who work at Winz . Never mind one or two who have had the misfortune to be on the receiving end of Winz too for a while .
You walk in there and ask for anything, they want to see your budget form, you haven't got one they send you to a budget place first .
They certainly wouldn't allow you to have a flash TV .

You can only get a food grant once every 26 weeks and usually that is $150 if you have a family .
You need some repair or appliance like a washing machine or fridge, they might give you a loan but you have to pay it back - the budget thing still applies .

They get bonuses for not giving out extras .

I have a housing corp group of places over the back of me . Sky dishes on the roof means nothing, Sky don't remove them you know - doesn't mean they have Sky . And how do you know - now - it's not Freeview?

The ones directly behind me don't have a car at all . I've been round to that street, there is no flash anything, never mind cars . A couple of them have a car, pretty crappy looking cars .
And guess what, the ones behind me have put in a small vege garden .

You all talk bollocks .
