2012-09-20 22:46:00 | FWIW I found that my S2 was occasionally connecting to my network ok but had no internet connectivity. By setting the ip manually and reserving that ip in the router that problem went away. Prior to doing that the fix was to reboot the router. | CliveM (6007) | |
2012-09-20 23:38:00 | Wireless can be really fickle, I use an Airport in the boarding house and all the windows clients experience random network drops. Apple clients (MBP, iPad etc) are fine as is my SGS2. Not bothered to see if it working in linux but it's probably a driver/network config issue rather than the apple router booting windows clients. The crux of the issue is, with wireless if you have a good connection, great but you'll be damned of you get one that's fussy. You have hardware (router and NIC on laptop), drivers, router firmware, OS and software on client devices as well as radio issues to troubleshoot. Of course it is possible to pinpoint the issue but with so many variables the problem can be as easy as changing the wireless channel or a a firmware/driver update to being as painful as having to do round robbin setting changed to find one that works.

2012-09-21 00:26:00 | Try turning off Firewall and maybe use static IP and if that helps. Then .. is there a newer driver available? Maybe going into the device manager and change the channel? Have you used this computer elsewhere and how has it been?

2012-09-21 04:45:00 | Firewall might be blocking something - worth a try I guess. In my experience one time I had these issues but I put in a different Wifi card and the problem went away. Another time IME, it was working fine until I installed a Windows Service Pack. I also had an issue related to the firewall but cannot recall, Speedy on this site helped me figure it out. I think I couldn't access shared folders - that was a Windows 2000 system. Like the Error Guy says, it might be that you're damned if you do or don't ... Do you have another computer or laptop to access your router? If that works, you know the router is probably fine. People here say that if you re behind a router, you have a hardware firewall protection anyway ...

2012-09-21 09:28:00 | You mean you tried it with another computer and it's fine? If so it seems the router is fine. On my wifi card under device manager I cannot change the channel. Maybe you can go into the router set up and do it there? If that doesn't fix it, try to use static IP with the wifi card with that link I gave you. Have you checked any newer drivers online from the manufacturer? Then I have no idea. Maybe if you have another wifi device like USB or PC Card try that. Do you have an Android? Turn it into a wifi hotspot, dunno how thou .. I don't have an Android. Then see if that computer can connect itself without issues ...

2012-09-21 10:36:00 | Read some of the others post . . . was thinking it was more networking router than the outside world internet issue . If you are having problems sharing folders and copying files from Computer A to Computer B it's the router issue or the computers . If you are having problems actually about the quality of the Internet it's Internet that could be a faulty modem (that connects to your ISP Telecom) or some telecom line fault or their network etc .
